Outpatient rTMS Treatment for Depression
Perth Clinic has introduced Rapid Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS), a non-invasive outpatient treatment option for adults experiencing depression.
rTMS uses targeted magnetic pulses to stimulate areas of the brain involved in mood regulation and may be considered for people whose symptoms have not sufficiently improved with standard treatments such as medication and psychological therapy.
Treatment is delivered on an outpatient basis, without the need for hospital admission or anaesthesia, and patients remain awake during sessions and are generally able to return to normal activities immediately afterwards.
rTMS is delivered by Perth Clinic’s experienced mental health team following specialist psychiatric assessment and is Medicare-subsidised for eligible patients under the Medicare Benefits Schedule, you will only need a GP referral.
