DBT Booster
DBT Booster has been designed to provide you with additional support in maintaining your treatment gains by reviewing and refreshing what you learnt throughout your engagement in our DBT Skills Group.
Program Outline
DBT Booster runs monthly as an open group. Over the course of four months, we will review each of the four components of DBT:
- Mindfulness – to assist with non-judgemental acceptance of the present moment.
- Distress Tolerance – to improve tolerance of distress and away from unhelpful behaviours.
- Emotional Regulation – to increase awareness and management of emotions.
- Interpersonal Effectiveness – to improve interpersonal functioning.
Program
In order to gain the most from the program, we anticipate that you have a solid understanding of the key DBT concepts and principles and that you are currently applying or attempting to apply some if not all of the skills to your everyday life.
Additionally as Booster is designed as a refresher program, we require that participants have completed a DBT Skills Program previously, not necessarily at Perth Clinic, within the last 12 months.
You will have also had your 6 week and 12 week follow up group and have now identified in conjunction with your Doctor a need for a refresher of some or all of the skills.
Sessions run on Thursday evenings. It is not necessary for you to attend all four monthly sessions, however it is recommended. Please discuss this with your Doctor.
How to get involved
You will need to discuss your interest in any of the groups available as part of the DBT program with your Perth Clinic psychiatrist.
Once a referral has been received from your psychiatrist, you will be contacted by Perth Clinic staff to organise an initial interview with a therapist and arrange your booking.
If you wish to discuss the program further, please contact Perth Clinic Reception on (08) 9481 4888
